Sarah Bryant
Sarah Bryant is a letterpress printer and bookbinder specializing in the production of editioned artist’s books under her imprint, Big Jump Press. These books have been featured in exhibitions around the United States and have been acquired by special collections libraries internationally, including The Yale Arts Library, Atelier Vis-à-Vis in Marseille, The Houghton Library at Harvard University, and The Darling Bio-medical Library at UCLA.
Sarah is currently the Victor Hammer Fellow in the Book Arts at Wells College in Aurora, New York, where she teaches letterpress printing and bookbinding courses to undergraduate students.
For her five day workshop at Cló, Sarah will be teaching a variety of binding structures beginning with pamphlets and moving through the accordion binding and the link stitch (a multiple section binding with exposed sewing at the spine) as well as simple boxmaking. Students will also be introduced to simple paste paper decoration techniques. This craft-based course will be of use to artists seeking to bring book structures into their own work as well as to people of all levels interested in learning bookbinding techniques.
